The economy of City of City of General Santos increased by 2.4 percent in 2023 lower than the 2022 growth of 9.0 percent. This represents an increase in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from PhP 129.03 billion in 2022 to PhP 132.17 billion in 2023. The GDP levels in 2023 exceeded the pre-pandemic levels by PhP 121.48 billion. (Figure 1)
Among the 16 industries, the fastest growths were observed in Accommodation and food service activities with 20.1 percent, followed by Transportation and storage with 17.5 percent, and Construction with 14.7 percent. On the other hand, Manufacturing and Agriculture, forestry, and fishing, experienced negative growth rate, declining by 18.0 percent and 4.3 Percent. (Figure 2)
